Service Description

This is a Sivananda Yoga inspired class. The Sivananda sequence serves as the springboard for your development in strength, flexibility, and pliability. (Ultimately leading into Astanga Sun Salutation A in the Intermediate Program.) Focus: Sun Salutations, Strength, Endurance Pre-Requisites: Beginner Level 1, Healed Injuries Prop Requirements: YogaMat/SoftSurface, Blocks/ThickBooks, Straps/Belts, Cushions/Pillows, EyePillow/Blindfold. Expanding on the principles of Yin Yoga presented in BL2, Beginner Level 3 introduces the gentle, blissful vinyasa flow of the basic standard Sun Salutations (Sivananda/Integral Style). Emphasis on combining breath with movement and control during strength postures. Conscious breathing continues to be one of the foundations of your practice. Additional Pranayama techniques will be learned and practiced. The format is designed for students who have completed Beginner Level 2, but all levels are welcome. You will spend about 25% of the time in seated, or reclined postures and the remaining time studying movement and strength-building poses. Vinyasa flows and the longer duration of the static holds of Hatha Yoga are studied and developed. Props are encouraged. Progressive practice at this level prepares the practitioner for a more vigorous practice beginning with Intermediate Level 1. Begin connecting with and building up the core strength. Leveling Up: Moving on to Intermediate Level 1 depends on the strength that the student has acquired. The student will have also developed a solid and comprehensive understanding of the 8 points of alignment.
